Storyline

Madness of mankind made nations wreck each other in a chaotic mayhem, leaving only dust and despair behind them. A few centuries later, nature has finally grown back over the rubbles of this forgotten time, and people now live in tribes trying not to forget their burden. So they set a yearly ritual, gathering all tribes together, to face each other in several ordeals. The most prominent is called Hayasa.

 Overview

Hayasa is a multiplayer action-platform game taking place in a post-apocalyptic world. Up to four players are facing each other for the possession of an artifact. Once a player’s got the artifact, he becomes the prey, and the others (the hunters) have to steal it from him. They can jump or dash over buildings, bouncing up and down the walls or running over it.

There are special bonus items all over the place that can help players to slow down their target, as well as help the prey to avoid being catch. If a hunter catches the prey, he gets the artifact and become the new prey, and so on …

Each round last for a few minutes; the prey substantially earns points over time, and the amount of points is depending on the time left (closer is the end, greater is the score increment).  At the end of the round, the player with the greatest score is the winner.

Key features

  • Fast-paced gameplay with tense aerial chases.
  • Tactical battles with various bonuses in a vast and open urban environment
  • Many capabilities, including double-jump, wall-jump, dash, wall-run and more

Overview

Playing as Bulbie, a young and tenacious Murloc, the player has to run for his life against a gang of human mages. Without any weapon or attack skill, Bulbie can only escape and dodge by running and using his limited sprint capability. The only way to defeat his enemies is to use the environment (woods, rivers) to slow them down and the NPC as weapons (bears and Orcs patrols).

Faltazia & Elystel

Two persistent roleplay servers for Neverwinter Nights.

Year : 2002-2004
Framework : Personal project

Development
tools : Aurora Toolset
Status : Released, then hosted and supported for 2 years.

Reception : A few days after it went online, Faltazia was the most popular French role-play server. Elystel did not have the same success.

Overview

Faltazia and Elystel have been created by a group of former players from the MMORPG "The 4th Coming" (T4C). We wanted to share our vision for online role-playing by creating an unconventional gaming platform with an original background and unique social features.
Faltazia was the first and most "hardcore" project : a world made for the players, by the players, with minimum NPC population, no XP or monster bashing or quest and gears. The gameplay was focused on the players interacting with each other and creating their own rules, political system and social structures in vast and open environment, in constant evolution.

Features

  • Attractive environments with highly detailed indoor and outdoor areas.
  • Consistent level design with significant care for scales and immersion as a key aim.
  • Community bonus pack with a compilation of improvements of the original game.
  • Many unique gameplay features, including weather management, new emotes and more.
  • Players can create or modify their own houses and clothes.
  • "Game Masters" team dealing with players' requests and technical issues.
  • Busy forums where players constantly enrich the background.
  • Reliable hosting for up to 25 players at the same time.

More about 7erminus

7erminus stresses on 3 key features :

  • Integrated narrative and interactive storyline.
7erminus includes RPG features with strong background and storyline, in addition to complex tactical mechanisms.
The player can make decisive choices during the mission and has to take responsability for the consequences of his actions. At the same time, this non-linear freedom extends into the possibility of failing the main objectives without losing the game.

  • Emotions and morale management.
Deep into the depth of a creepy situation in highly hostile environment, the player has to deal with the character’s frame of mind in addition to their physical integrity and ammunition rationing.
They can experience zeal as well as stress and fear, surges of heroism as well as nervous breakdown and sudden terror.
They can be in love with one another and suffer from being separated from their lover. They can feel anxious when staying alone if the Squad members gets distant from each other.

  • Immersive user interface and user-friendly controls.
With mouse based controls and minimal HUD, 7erminus means to be accessible to all audience, including casual gamers who have never played a tactical game before.
After a short integrated tutorial, everybody can quickly and efficiently manage the Squad.

Designer intentions

Tacticals games have always been complicated and elitist but it is not intrinsic to the genre.
My purpose was to offer the most accessible tactical game experience, with a easy to understand user interface, minimal HUD informations, simplified character management and very few inputs (mouse only).

Furthermore, I want to put military tactics on a more ‘human’ level, by stressing on the mood and morale of the characters. Each individual has its own statistics, speciality and weakness, can be cowards, overzealous or nervous. They can love each other and suffer from being separated.
This psychological management is one of the main aspects in 7erminus, as it has strong influence on the tactical gameplay, during fights and exploration. By this way, I want to confront the player to new choices and dilemma that go beyond the usual logisctics stuffs.

In the top of that, I don’t want the story to be an excuse for the fights. I want to tell a story and to let the player decide where it goes and how it ends. There are many ways in 7erminus to learn more about the story, the events that occurred before the squad arrived in the Factory. As they explore, they can find many pieces of informations : slaughtered bodies, evidences of violent struggles in the corridors, computer datas, scientific reports and outdated distress calls. They will have to put all those pieces together to make the good choices during their mission.
